Is a bicycle trailer safer than a child seat?

From child seats to cargo bikes or trailer bikes to bicycle trailers: there are more and more options for staying mobile in the long term, even with children. However, only the bicycle trailer offers unbeatable protection – in our article, we explain what makes it so safe compared to a child seat.

When it comes to transporting children with a bicycle, the first thing most people think of is a child seat. It has been on the market for decades and has faithfully transported many children around. But when it comes to safety, there is a major shortcoming: if you take your child with you on a child seat on the back, they are only protected by the child's helmet in the event of an accident. In addition, the distance of the fall is quite high and the connection between the bicycle and the child seat is rigid throughout. Unfortunately, if you fall with the bicycle, your child will inevitably fall too.

Safety first for the tiniest tots.

The Croozer commitment: In the development of our bicycle trailers, safety is the top priority. It is the basis and guiding principle for everything we do and is a central pillar of our identity as a company. This means that we only offer products that completely satisfy our high standards for safety, quality and durability. We are convinced that intelligently designed, high-quality bicycle trailers offer several advantages over other transport alternatives. Click here for more: Safety in the bicycle trailer

A bicycle trailer like the Croozer Kid has a big advantage here - even compared to a trailer bike or cargo bike: bicycle trailers already form a protective cocoon in traffic. The closed safety passenger cell with its fixed frame system offers plenty of space for the child on all sides and provides unbeatable all-round protection.

Bicycle trailers also have a low centre of gravity, which offers more safety. This prevents the bicycle trailer from tipping over if you accidentally take the edge of the pavement a little too fast or are travelling off paved roads. Should an accident occur in which you could potentially fall off the bike, bicycle trailers will simply remain stationary thanks to the rotatable coupling axle.

In addition, they are designed so that the child's body remains within the frame even in extreme situations. Straps keep the child firmly in place even in the unlikely event of a rollover. All of this significantly reduces the risk of injury.

Another bonus: the weather! If the weather is changeable again, your child will be dry and protected in the Croozer. Thanks to the sensor light, the trailer is easily visible in traffic even in poor visibility. On the bicycle seat, however, your child will get just as wet as you do!
